Mike Blouin

From dKosopedia

Mike Blouin is an Iowa Democrat. He is the state's Director of Economic Development, and was a U.S. Representative from 1975-1979. In 2006, he ran for Governor of Iowa, along with his running mate, Dr. Andrea McGuire. He lost the primary election to Chet Culver.

Mike Blouin was born in 1945. In 1966 he graduated from Loras College in Dubuque. He was first elected to the Iowa State House at the young age of 22, and he served there for four years before winning a seat in the State Senate. At the time of his election, he was forced to resign his job as a teacher, and his wife was also forced to resign because she became pregnant, so their family income took a precipitous dive when he entered public service.

He and his wife, Suzanne, have twin daughters.
