Yoshito Takamine

Yoshito Takamine, a Democrat and member of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, one of the Hawaii's most politically potent labor organizations. Takamine was a member of the Hawaii State House of Representatives from 1959 until 1984, when his son, Dwight Takamine succeeded him in the Hawaii State Legislature. Takamine represented the Hamakua district on the Big Island.

Takamine was the eldest son of Okinawan immigrant plantation workers. After graduating from public school, he worked for the ILWU. He was elected to Hawaii State Legislature in 1958. [1]
