Thomas L. Pangle

Thomas Pangle - University of Texas at Austin. Pangle was professor of political science at the University of Toronto until 2004. He primarily teaches the political philosophy of antiquity, as well as 18th century political thought and continental thought of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Pangle is the author of Montesquieu's Philosophy of Liberalism (1973), The Roots of Political Philosophy (1987), The Spirit of Modern Republicanism (1988), The Ennobling of Democracy (1991), The Learning of Liberty: The Educational Ideas of the American Founders (co-authored with Lorraine Pangle, 1993), translator of The Laws of Plato (1980), co-editor with Michael Palmer of Political Philosophy and the Human Soul (1995), and co-author with Peter Ahrensdorf of Justice Among Nations (1999).
