Ron Saxton

Ron Saxton (R) ran for Governor of Oregon, but lost to the incumbent, see Oregon gubernatorial election, 2006. He also ran for Governor in 2002.
Saxton was born and raised in Albany, Oregon where he graduated from West Albany High School in 1972. He was the first in his family to complete college, graduating from Willamette University and the University of Virginia Law School.
He was elected to the Portland Public Schools Board in 1997 and served as its Chair from 1998-2000. Ron is also the founding President of the Portland Schools Foundation.
He co-founded the AterWynne law firm and served as a political commentator on KATU television in Portland and for the Medford Mail Tribune.
He and his wife Lynne have one grown son.
Illegal Immigration
Saxton has made illegal immigration one of the main issues in his race for governor. However, he was the part-owner of a cherry farm that not only used migrant farm workers, but housed them in a converted barn. (Source: OR-Gov: Harvest of Shame--Welcome to Saxton-ville).
