Progressive taxation

From dKosopedia

Progressive taxation is a system of taxation in which the wealthiest taxpayers are taxed at a higher rate than low-income taxpayers. This system reduces the wealth gap between rich and poor. In the United States, income tax at the federal level, as well as in many states, is done progressively.

Other systems of taxation include regressive taxation and flat taxation.
