Marvin Pomerantz

Marvin A. Pomerantz was a businessman from Des Moines, Iowa. He was born into a desperately poor immigrant family, and he died on August 14, 2008, at the age of 78. He was the Chairman and CEO of Mid-America Group, where Teresa A. Wahlert is President. Pomerantz has served on the Board of Directors of Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Pomerantz was a former member of the Iowa Board of Regents, and he served as its President from 1987-1993, and in 1995-96. He was been very critical of another Regents President, Michael G. Gartner.
Pomerantz was a generous donor to the University of Iowa and the University of Iowa Hospital.
