John D. Forsyth

John D. Forsyth is Chairman and CEO of Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Iowa and CEO of its subsidiary, Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Dakota. Mr. Forsyth joined Wellmark in August 1996 and was named Chairman in 2000. Before joining Wellmark, Mr. Forsyth was President and CEO of the University of Michigan Health System.

Mr. Forsyth was appointed to the Iowa Board of Regents in 2003, but he was forced to resign in 2005, because of conflicts of interest between Wellmark and the University of Iowa Hospital.
