Jeani Withington, a family law attorney from the Big Island, became interim Democratic Party chairwoman in October 2007 after Mike McCartney resigned his post to become executive director of the Hawaii State Teachers Association. Withington will serve as interim chairwoman until the state party convention in May 2008.
She succeeds Mike McCartney, who resigned his post so he could become executive director of the 13,000-member Hawaii State Teachers Association. [1]
