Use this template in articles on the 109th United States Congress specifically.
- For articles specifically on the Senate in the 109th Congress, use this template.
- For articles specifically on the House of Representatives in the 109th Congress, use this template.
Other Senate, House and combined chamber articles, use the same name template in the above links only substituting the number of specific Congress you want for "110th".

If there is a change in control of one of the chambers, or a change in either the Speaker of the House or the Senate Majority Leader, a duplicate of this template changing the appropriate information and adding the "-2" suffix (no quotes), should be created and used.

Content entry explanation and best practices
- {{{date/topic}}} - In most case, this refers to the date of when the topic of the article occurred, such as when used in daily summary articles on what occurred in Congress, or a in conjunction with a specific event. The format of "January 1, 2007" (no quotes) should be used for a specific date or "January 1, 2007 - January 1, 2007" (no quotes) if the topic of the article covers a range of dates. It can, on rare occasions, be used as a topic header instead.
- {{{previous}}} - This should be used as the link previous articles that are related. This is used mainly to link daily and weekly summary articles together to allow easy navigation from session to session in Congress. The entered data is automatically made a link, so no brackets should be used.
- {{{next}}} - Like the above data/link, this should be used to link to the next related article, usually the next day/week in the daily and weekly summary articles. The entered data is automatically made a link, so no brackets should be used.
- {{{previous-vanity}}} - The text entered here is the text displayed for the {{{previous}}} link. This allows shorter naming of the link to keep the infobox from becoming too wide.
- {{{next-vanity}}} - The text entered here is the text displayed for the {{{next}}} link. This allows shorter naming of the link to keep the infobox from becoming too wide.
Note: the {{{previous}}} / {{{previous-vanity}}} combination variables, as well as the {{{next}}} / {{{next-vanity}}} combination variables already have the [[ ]] in the source template, so simply fill in the data name and it will hyperlink. If missing content for either variable, replace data content with " " (including the quotes), " • " (no quotes) or some other text delineating that the content is not there or will be forthcoming. Hopefully when a newer version of wiki is installed, the conditional coding will be functional like newer wiki releases do which will hide such portions of the template that are left blank in the usage code.
