DHinMI was for five and a half years the pseudonym of political blogger and campaign manager Dana Houle. He first discovered Daily Kos in February 2003, but didn't create his pseudonym until mid-July 2003 to comment on that blog. After serving over fourteen months as an official guest blogger on Daily Kos, he continued making front-page posts there, later becoming a Contributing Editor to the site from the time it became a formal group blog through August 2009. He is currently managing the campaign of Matt Entenza, a DFL candidate for Governor of Minnesota for the 2010 election. He co-founded the group blog The Next Hurrah in February 2005.

Commenting on Daily Kos
DHinMI's first comment on Daily Kos has almost certainly been lost, as it was written in mid-July during the month-and-a-half period that HaloScan comments replaced Movable Type comments when the latter overloaded the available server capacity.
His first surviving comment still exists because it was front-paged by Markos on July 21, 2003 in an update to the post Bush loses Arab-American support. His first extant comment in a surviving comment thread is from the first day Movable Type comments were restored, on August 16, 2003.

When DHinMI started commenting at Daily Kos, the blog was using Movable Type software. Markos was the sole blogger—though he began inviting guest bloggers to cover for him occasionally as 2003 began—and comment threads popped up in a separate window. The Movable Type site has subsequently been archived at DailyKos.net, and all links are to that archive.
In the archive, direct links can only be made to individual front-page posts, and to the comment threads of those posts. Only the entire thread can be linked to; there is no way to link to individual posts. So, once you bring up a comment thread in your browser, use your browser's search function to find "DHinMI". This will find all of DHinMI's comments plus some direct references to those comments or questions to DHinMI. If you only want to find DHinMI's comments, then search on "by DHinMI".
In the list of comments below, the date given is the date the particular front-page post was made; it is possible that the actual comment was made the next day.
The person writing the original front page post is assumed to be Markos; if there was a guest blogger that day—Steve Gilliard, RonK, Seattle, or Meteor Blades—that blogger will be named. Any open threads that Steve Gilliard or RonK, Seattle may have created will be credited to them on this page; if uncredited, open threads are also assumed to be set up by Markos.

July 2003
July 1–31: Movable Type comments were shut down on July 1, 2003 at 5:01 p.m., and HaloScan comments were brought up in their place as a temporary measure on July 2, 2003 at 11:48 a.m. Unfortunately, due to problems setting up the first Daily Kos–owned server, Movable Type comments were not restored until August 16, 2003 at 9:44 a.m.; hence, any comments made by DHinMI under HaloScan from July 2 (or mid-July, when his first comment on Daily Kos was made) through early morning on August 16 have been lost. The sole exception, because it was front-paged, is below.

Here is a link that will show you all the comments DHinMI has written, under that name, the transitional Dana Houle aka DHinMI name, and as Dana Houle (41,289 through September 1, 2009) on the current Daily Kos site (Scoop-based; opened October 13, 2003), 50 per search page. He created his account shortly after noon on October 14, 2003, and garnered User ID 899. His last post, a comment, was made on September 1, 2009. When he was posting, he was one of the most prolific commenters on Daily Kos.
