Talk:Broad vision statements for America brainstorming page

From dKosopedia

...It takes more than brainstorming to reach people and influence. We haven't succesfully reached out to the great Divide. Those Evangelicals and Christians with deeply held values dealing with abortion and gay marriage cannot be overlooked. Liberals have helped to encourage "liberal, elitest, cynical snobs" labelling, because we have ignored this group with our own "group think". We cannot believe that there is no common ground worthy of honest discussion with those in red states, and hope to ever propose agendas for social change that can appeal to some of this group. I have heard many liberals deride them as stupid and ignorant. This message has filtered to the red states, and so we have encouraged the liberal labelling that republicans have been to glad to take advantage of. Worse, we are offending lots of decent people who know we have contempt for them. A real change in our thinking must take place within us before any strategy can be effectively advanced. We haven't learned how to reach out. Yes, political warfare is an art and science, and we must fight back hard, and brainstorm. But...the major brainstorm we have to learn in order to succeed ,is to learn how to communicate with people we have ignored and derided. We can do this if we dare.
