Brian Murray

Brian Murray (R) was appointed to the Washington State Senate in 2003 when the previous senator and majority leader of the senate, Jim West, resigned to become the Mayor of Spokane. Murray represents the 6th Legislative District, which includes parts of the city of Spokane and unincorporated parts of Spokane County.

He is running for his first election in 2004 and has a primary opponent (State Representative Brad Benson, who was also his opponent in the appointment process). On September 14th, Brad Benson defeated incumbent Brian Murray in the Republican primary.

The Democratic challenger is Laurie Dolan.
