Baltimore CitiStat

From dKosopedia

The Baltimore CitiStat continuous municipal performance audit program achieved global recognition as a means of quality management in government. The City of Baltimore advises that it should be deployed before 311 service, so that the statistics from the latter are actually dealt with as part of daily routine.

The dowire report on the program outlines its connection to other civic programs and priorities. It is particularly notable that the Kennedy School of Government wrote a 52-page report on the success of this program, which saved hundreds of times more money than it cost.

The program is often cited by urban reformers as a model of continuous municipal performance auditing, which assigns specific roles to political and staff players.

The Canadian Civic Efficiency Group uses the accounting model from this program as the basis for its City Infrastructure Loan program proposals.

The Operation Tinman report on topic maps cites some best practices of CitiStat.
