Walter Berns

Walter Berns - Georgetown University (Emeritus), American Enterprise Institute; M.A. and Ph.D. from Chicago, a tremendously well-respected professor and colleague of Allan Bloom. Bloom and Berns taught together at Cornell University and then at the University of Toronto. Berns first got the position at Toronto after many of the Cornell professors resigned in 1969, and he was rumored to be the highest-paid political science professor at that university. Since Berns left Toronto in 1977 he has been at the American Enterprise Institute. Berns primarily teaches American Government subjects with a strong emphasis on the influence of American political thought. Author of many books, including Making Patriots, For Capital Punishment, and First Amendment and the Future of American Democracy.

Berns was a graduate student of Leo Strauss.
