Talk:United States Secretary of State

It may be desirable to consolidate the two and make a single entry and a redirect. Generally speaking, the naming convention in dkospedia has been to omit the words "federal" or "United States" in a variety of U.S. institutions, which means that including such a preface in a name creates a double entry. I don't have a problem with United States in an entry name, it is more accurate. But, it does lead to duplicate entries if one isn't diligent in looking either link to link or by direct search for parallel entries.
- Lestatdelc 15:01, 29 Nov 2004 (PST) I am all for consolidating and using redirects if there are dplicated pages, etc. however we really do need to adopt the "federal" or "United States" naming convention because there are secretaries of state for each state in country (though their purview is not foreign affairs, but state elections divisions, state government oversight and such. This is why it is absolutely critical that we DO use the "United States" pre-fix naming convention. So we can have pages on individual secretaries of state for the states as needed.
