Completed Elections
Anchorage
- Winner - Mark Begich (D)
- Other Candidates - Jack Frost (R)

New Orleans

- Synopsis - Despite controversial remarks, including his concerns that New Orleans not be "overrun with Mexican workers" and his desire that New Orleans be a "chocolate city" again, Mayor C. Ray Nagion was reelected by the voters and, in his second term, will have the opportunity to oversee the recovery of the city of New Orleans from the ravages of Hurricane Katrina. Nagin finishd first in the April primary, and then defeated Mitch Landrieu, the Louisiana Lieutenant Governor and brother of Senator Mary Landrieu, in the runoff. Two thirds of the city, including much of its African-American population, was still displaced at the time of the election, in which many evacuated New Orleans residents voted by absentee ballot.

- Other Candidates - Ignacio de la Fuente (D); Nancy Nadel (D); Gregory Hodge; Dan Siegel
