Talk:U.S. House election, 2006

From dKosopedia

I hate to say it, but the Democrats will not take either house in Congress in this midterm election.

They’ll continue to play their "let the Republicans self destruct" card. In another month, they'll see in their poles that they're behind and try to define themselves in the final weeks of the campaign , but by that time it will be too late. They will have already lost the trust of the electorate.

For those who are old enough to remember, this midterm election will be similar to the 1988 presidential elections, where 2 days short of going to the polls , Democratic Presidential candidate Michael Dukakis, who after 2 months of being raked over the coals in the campaign by Papa Bush's accusation of "Dukakis" being the "L" word, finally said that he was a liberal in the tradition of Franklin Roosvelt and John Kennedy. It was way too little , way too late by that time.
I could advise ways out of it. I do think the advisors to the candidates in these campaigns are rather taken with themselves, and feel they could extrapolate a lot more by taking another poll than spending the time to listen in any length to their constituents.
