The Connecticut for Lieberman Party
From dKosopedia
Connecticut for Lieberman is the name ofincumbent Connecticut U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman's new personalist political party. Party members were recruited from among supporters who rallied to him after his humilating 2006 Democratic Party primary election by the real Democrat in the race, Ned Lamont. Liberman would go on to win the general election because he recieved so much support from pro-Iraq War Republicans.
Ironically, and sadly, Lieberman got his start as an anti-Vietnam War Democratic candidate. Howevver power corrupts and Lieberman either lost sight of the values that once motivated his entrance into electoral politics or his other loyalties to the purposes of the neo-conservative agenda trumped his former liberal values. Before he became the patheric "independent Democrat" in the U.S. Senate, Lieberman served as the second Bush administration's favorite Democratic politician because of his enthusiasm for the War in Iraq. He and the tiny handful of Democrats who still support Bush's imperialist adventure have become contemporary throwbacks to the Democrats for Nixon.
Neo-conservatism emerged first among Cold War Democrats who continued to support the U.S. War in Vietnam long after most Americans realized it was an awful mistake.
