Steve Warnstadt (D) is currently serving his first term in the Iowa Senate. He represents Senate District 1, which includes Sioux City. Before being elected to the Senate, Senator Warnstadt was a four-term Iowa State Representative.
Iowa State Senator Steve Warnstadt’s main goals are growing Iowa’s economy, strengthening Iowa’s families, and improving Iowa’s infrastructure. Senator Warnstadt serves on the Appropriations, Judiciary, and Transportation Committees. He is Co-Chair of the Transportation Budget Subcommittee and Co-Chair of the Commerce Committee.
Senator Warnstadt’s civic involvement includes service on the Sioux Trails Girl Scout Board of Directors, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Senator Warnstadt has also received numerous awards and recognitions. Some of these honors include Sioux City NAACP Award, Five Army Commendation Awards, Valorous Unit Award, Military Intelligence Corps Association Knowlton Award and Sioux City Journal 40 under 40.
Senator Warnstadt received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Drake University as well as a Master of Arts degree from Temple University. He is currently an adjunct instructor at Western Iowa Technical Community College in Sioux City and is an intelligence officer with the Iowa Army National Guard.
