Stanley Hara

Stanley Hara (b. May 23, 1923 - d. December 1, 2009), a Democrat, served in the territorial Legislature and later in the state Legislature of Hawaii from 1954 to 1980. Hara was first elected in 1954 to the territorial legislature in Hawaii, where he served as the chair of the House Finance Committee for six years. Appointed by former Governor John A. Burns to the state Senate in 1969, he later took on the chairmanship of the Senate education committee and the ecology, environmental and recreation committees.
The late Sen. Hara passed away on December 1, 2009 at age 86.[1]
