Heard in our newapaper today that fully half of our county's 217,000 registered voters will be voting in different precincts in two weeks! I'm in South Carolina, and it's hard to think this is a Republican ploy, becuase I doubt any of them thought South Carolina would ever be in play. But still... What chaos? The county's growing rapidly (true), and they said they had some precincts that had grown to more than 6,500 people (too many, I agree) so they cut down the size, and in the middle of that, we're undergoing a massive school building and renovation project (again, true), and most of us vote at schools. So, half of us will be voting in different precincts and they haven't even mailed the new voter registration cards, with the new precinct info. on it yet. (Screw up at the state office, messing up the info.)Should go out soon, they hope. I'm thinking when I volunteer tomorrow at Democratic headquarters, we all need to be preparing packets of maps to send to the polling places with our volunteers, so we can get people to the right place.
