Sol Kahoohalahala

Sol Kaho'ohalahala, a member of the Democratic Party, declared his candidacy for Mayor of Maui County, Hawai'i on April 18, 2010. He currently serves on the Maui County Council as the member from Lana'i. Prior to this, he served as the representative of District 13 to the Hawaii State House of Representatives of the Hawaii State Legislature. Rep. Kaho'ohalahala was reelected to his house seat in the general election of 2004 by defeating his republican opponent, Meiling Akuna. House district 13 includes: East Maui, Kaho'olawe, Kalaupapa, Lana'i and Moloka'i. Kaho'ohalahala resigned on January 6, 2005, to take over as Director of the Kaho'olawe Island Reserve Commission.

Kaho‘ohalahala began his political career in the Maui County Council in 1995 as the councilmember representing Lana‘i. He then served two terms (1998-2000, 2002-2004) in the Hawaii State House of Representatives.

Sol's focus on sustainability, clean environment, clean energy and clean government is in keeping with traditional Hawaiian values of aloha.
