Sam Nunn

Sam Nunn, a conservative Democrat, is a former United States Senator from Georgia. He served in the Georgia House of Representatives before running for the United States Senate in 1972. He served four terms, gradually becoming more moderate in his views, before retiring in 1996.

Although he was generally considered a hawk on defense issues, he voted against the Persian Gulf War.
