Salvador Allende

link titleSalvador Allende (26 June 1908-11Sept 1973) was the democratically elected president of Chile, who was overthrown in the coup of September 11 , 1973. A doctor by profession, he had been the socialist party presidential candidate on several occasions before coming to power at the head of the Unidad Popular alliance of parties on 4 November, 1970.
