Ronald Kouchi

From dKosopedia

Ronald Kouchi, is returning as Kauai councilman in 2006, having run unsuccessfully for Kauai Mayor in 2002. Kouchi is a 20 year vetran of the Kauai County Council, including a time as Chairman of the council.

The following information is from the Hawaii State Office of elections, 2006 election information provided by the candidate Kouchi [1]:

From 1982 to 2002, I served for 20 consecutive years on the Kauai County Council, including 12 years as Chairman. I am a fiscal conservative and am concerned about the cost of government that exceeds the capacity of most taxpayers to support the level of County services that best serves the public health, safety and welfare. With my 20 years of County service and experience, I have been fortunate in developing and cultivating valuable contacts in both the U.S. Congress and the State Capitol which will undoubtedly yield untold benefits for our community.
I intend to promote ‘smart growth’ principles, affordable housing, solid waste initiatives, innovative youth and elderly programs, and develop a County infrastructure that is capable of supporting the level of development and quality of life that is desired by most of our island’s residents.
I intend to operate a grassroots campaign and to practice ‘clean election’ principles as set forth in the State’s campaign reform laws. As a result, I will voluntarily comply with the Campaign Spending Limit; and I will not accept any campaign contribution in excess of $100.00. I will not be posting any yard signs or other signs that will spoil the visual beauty of our island and will no longer participate in hazardous roadside sign-waiving.
