RonK, Seattle is the pseudonym of a political blogger who commented on Slate's The Fray before founding his own blog Cogent Provocateur on March 4, 2002; it ran through April 23, 2003, fewer than two weeks after he became a guest blogger on Daily Kos. He also blogged for The Next Hurrah during its first year, posting from May 2005 through February 2006.

Front Page Posts

In the Open Thread on April 11, 2003, RonK was designated by kos as one of two guest posters for the next few days while Markos was out of town, along with Steve Gilliard, who'd started eight days before and had posted every day since.

RonK wrote sixty posts for Daily Kos through October 8, 2003, a week before Daily Kos shut down its Movable Type–based site and switched to Scoop. Steve Gilliard wrote his final guest posts on August 28, 2003; Meteor Blades and DHinMI joined RonK on the front page beginning September 19, 2003, and then continued as guest bloggers under Scoop.

RonK did not post to the front page of Daily Kos after it transitioned to Scoop software. He was the last of four guest bloggers who wrote only during the Movable Type era, following Billmon, Steve Soto, and Steve Gilliard, and none of them posted to the front page after this software transition.

List of Post Links

When RonK started posting at Daily Kos, the blog was using Movable Type software. Markos was the sole blogger, and comment threads popped up in a separate window. The Movable Type site has subsequently been archived at DailyKos.net, and all links are to that archive.

In the archive, direct links can only be made to individual front-page posts, and to the entire comment threads of those posts. All of RonK's front page posts are in the archive.

From July 1 through August 16, Movable Type comments were shut down on Daily Kos. HaloScan comments were made available as a substitute shortly before noon on July 2, but all these comments were lost when Movable Type comments were re-enabled. This was supposed to be a stopgap of no more than a week; instead, it lasted a month and a half. It is odd seeing an archive with comment-less open threads appearing daily. Unfortunately, all comments that RonK, Seattle wrote in this period are lost, so the next 10 diary links do not reference comment threads or links to same.
