Roger Stewart (D) is an Iowa State Senator. He was elected in 2002 and reelected in 2006. He represents District 13, which includes Clinton, Maquoketa, Bellevue, and Preston.
Senator Stewart advocates for Iowa’s schools. He would like to see quality education in each classroom. He would also like to see economic growth throughout the state. Senator Stewart serves on the Appropriations, Commerce, Ways and Means, Local Government, and Economic Growth Committees. He is also Co-Chair of Administration and Regulation Budget Subcommittee.
Senator Stewart’s civil involvement includes service on the Regional Workforce Investment Board, Maquoketa Contact Team for Economic Development, and the Jackson County Revolving Loan Fund.
Senator Stewart has received several awards and recognitions in agriculture. These awards include the Chamber Friends of Agriculture Award and the National Banking Award for work during the 1980’s Farm Crisis.
Senator Stewart graduated from Maquoketa High School and attended Cornell College for two years. Stewart is a graduate of the Wisconsin School of Banking. He is involved in farming and banking.
Senator Stewart and his wife, Jennie, a retired newspaper and feature editor, have three children and seven grandchildren.
