Robert Herkes

Robert Herkes (born Jan 24, 1931), a member of the Democratic Party, has won reelection to the Hawaii State House of Representatives of the Hawaii State Legislature in the 2004 general election. Herkes soundly defeated his Republican opponent, Stephanie Tabbada.
House Representative District 5 includes these areas of the Big Island: Mountain View, Glenwood, Volcano, Pahala, Punalu'u, Ocean View, Ninole, Honuapo, Naalehu, Kahuku, Miloli'i, Ho'okena, Kealia, Honaunau, Captain Cook, Kealakekua, portion of Kainaliu.

Recent Ratings Based on a point system 1-5, with points assigned for actions in support of or in opposition to Small Business Hawaii 's position, Rep. Robert N. 'Bob' Herkes received a rating of 3.
Based on lifetime voting records on gun issues and the results of a questionnaire sent to all candidates in 2008, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund assigned Rep. Robert N. 'Bob' Herkes a grade of A (with grades ranging from a high of A+ to a low of F).
Rep. Herkes had a good environmental voting record of 71 in 2003-2004 but this has declined to an unfavorable score of 33 in 2007-2008 on a 0-100 scale according to the Sierra Club.
