Rick Dickinson is the Director of the Greater Dubuque Development Corporation, and a former Democratic state legislator. He ran for the Democratic nomination to fill the open seat in Iowa's First Congressional District (IA-01), see Iowa Federal elections, 2006. He lost the primary to Bruce Braley.
Rich was the oldest of seven children. After graduating from William Penn College in 1975, Rick and his wife Rae Ann, an elementary public school teacher, returned to his hometown of Sabula. They have two grown children.
Political History
- Rick was first elected Mayor of Sabula at the age of 24.
- He spent four years working as an Iowa Corrections Officer in Jackson County.
- He was then elected twice to the Jackson County Board of Supervisors.
- In 1990, Rick was elected to the first of his two terms in the Iowa Legislature where he proudly represented the people of Jackson and southern Dubuque County.
