Presidents Intelligence Oversight Board
From dKosopedia
The President's Intelligence Oversight Board (PIOB) was created in its current form by President Ronald Reagan in 1981, see Executive Order 12334. The purpose of the PIOB is to enhance the security of the United States by assuring the legality of activities of the Intelligence Community. Board members report directly to the President of the United States, and they have conducted investigations into possible CIA involvement with human rights abuses in Guatemala, and internal security at Department of Energy nuclear weapons labs.
The PIOB is composed of three private citizens appointed by the President; historically, most members of the PIOB have also been members of the PFIAB. Since 1981, the PIOB has had a full-time staff consisting of a counsel and one management security officer.
