Paul Holvey a Democrat, is the Oregon State Representative for Oregon State House District 8 which covers most of Eugene in the 73rd Legislative session.

Background
State Representative Paul Holvey is currently employed as a Community Relations Representative for The Northwest Carpenters – part of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. He attended undergraduate studies at Lane Community College, Central Washington University, and the University of Oregon. He also received a Certificate from the University of Oregon Labor Education and Research Center and professional training in Labor-Management relations.
Representative Holvey was issued an Oregon license in real estate sales and appraisal, and a contractor license in construction. He began as a carpentry apprentice before becoming a journeyman in the carpenters union, and has worked for various contractors in Oregon, Washington, California and Alaska as a carpenter, foreman and project superintendent.
Representative Holvey serves on the Oregon-SW Washington Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, the Economic and Workforce Development Committee of the Lane County Labor Council, the Siuslaw National Forest Resource Advisory Committee, and as a Board Member of the Lane Business Education Compact. He served as the Secretary/Treasurer of Carpenters Local #1273 in Eugene from 1997-2004. In addition to his current professional and civic participation, Representative Holvey served on the Lane Community College Citizen Advisory Committee, and was the first Vice-President of the Lane County Labor Council.
Representative Holvey has been recognized by the Oregon State Apprenticeship and Training Council for his Meritorious Service, and received both a Certificate of Recognition from the Chair of the Lane County Board of Commissioners and an award from the Eugene Human Rights Commission in recognition for his community contributions.
Representative Holvey was originally appointed to House District 8 by the Lane County Board of Commissioners in January 2004, and won his first election in November 2004. Although he is currently serving his first full legislative term, Representative Holvey has testified before committees, worked diligently through the interim session, and has been busy crafting legislation for the 2005-2007 Biennial Session.
Paul Holvey lives in EUgene with his wife Terrie. His son Justin is a member of the U.S. Army and has served in Iraq.
