P.J. O Rourke
From dKosopedia
"Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys."
P. J. O'Rourke has been called "one of the funniest writers in America" by Time magazine, and "the funniest writer alive" by The Wall Street Journal.
A former editor of National Lampoon, he regularly writes for Rolling Stone. He is a Mencken Fellow at the libertarian Cato Institute. His bread and butter, however, is in publishing political satire; he has written dozens of books to that end, and regularly appears on NPR. His books include: Parliament of Whores, Holidays in Hell, Eat the Rich, Republican Party Reptile, and All the Trouble in the World.
Before becoming a Libertarian, O'Rourke was a registered Republican, and he tends to get a bad rep from the progressive crowd because of his appearances on NPR. He is, however, gleefully willing to go after his own party with blowtorches and pliers when the opportunity arises, and even endorsed Bill Clinton in 92. Worth a read if you're interested in conservative-libertarian humor, particularly on economics (his lambasting of Reagan's War on Poverty is among his finest work).
