Narrative
Ensign ran against Harry Reid in 1998 and nearly unseated the popular Senator, making an issue of Reid's relationship with President Clinton. Nevada has gone from red to purple, but likely not enough to put Ensign in real danger.
Although he is a political newcomer, Carter, son of former President Jimmy Carter has plenty of name recognition. Another possible challenger is Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman.
