Nancy Riley

From dKosopedia

Nancy Riley is a Democratic State Senator (SD-37 Tulsa) from Oklahoma. She ran for Lt. Governor in the 2006 Republican primary, and received 23% of the vote.

Riley is a teacher in the Tulsa public schools. She supported her family after her husband died of a brain tumor, and she feels that government has a vital role to play in supporting the middle class. She has two children.

Party Switch

In August 2006, Riley left the Republican party and joined the Democrats:

“It has become clear to me the Republican Party leadership seems focused on pushing moderate voters to the side and supporting policies that do not move our state forward,” said Riley. “There’s nothing in their agenda for middle class families, they show lip service to education and infrastructure, and they aren’t serious about punishing corporations who bring illegal aliens to our state."
