Mike Weaver

Col. Mike Weaver was the Democratic nominee for the 2nd Congressional District of Kentucky 2nd District, but he lost to the incumbent, see Kentucky U.S. House election, 2006. He was endorsed by the National Educational Association for his longtime support of public education.

Double Veteran

Weaver served in both the U.S. Navy as a young man and later in the U.S. Army, during which he fought in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Between the wars he attended Officer Candidate School at Ft. Benning, Georgia.

He served in the Kentucky State House from 1996 to 2006, representing the 26th District. Weaver is one of the Fighting Dems.

A Roman Catholic, Weaver and his wife Lois have four children.
