Mike McGavick

Mike McGavick is a Republican attorney from Washington. He served as chairman, president and chief executive officer of Safeco Corporation from 2001 to 2005. He once served as an aide to former Senator Slade Gorton, and he is close to Alaska Senator Ted Stevens.

He ran for the U.S. Senate, but lost to Democratic incumbent Maria Cantwell, see Washington U.S. Senate election, 2006. McGavick attended a $100,000 fundraiser in Anchorage, AK, which was organized by Stevens, and attended by energy industry executives who support opening the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling.

Mike and his wife Gaelynn have three sons.
