Mike Caccioppoli

Michael Louis Caccioppoli, Jr was born July 12, 1971 in Brooklyn, New York. In 1989, Caccioppoli graduated from Susan Wagner High School. After high school, Mike studied communications at New York City's College of Staten Island for two years. At age 19, he performed on talk radio at WABC in New York. Later, he went to Las Vegas, Nevada to work on several talk radio shows. He currently lives in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Mike Caccioppoli is a member of the Democratic Party of Arizona. He worked on the campaigns of John Kerry and Paul Babbitt during the 2004 election in Casa Grande. In the 2006 election year, Mike is running for US House of Representatives against incumbent Rick Renzi in Arizona Congressional District 1. As of the month of April, he is the front-runner in the Democratic primary. His campaign slogan is "Renew the Deal" which is referring to Roosevelt's New Deal under which most of the great American social programs were created. He is running a very aggressive campaign against Republican Rick Renzi. Already in April, he began running TV ads in northern Arizona.

On the Issues

War in Iraq: Mike advocates withdrawl of the troops from Iraq by following Congressman John Murtha's plan.

Minimum Wage: He believes the minimum wage in Arizona should be raised from the current $5.15 an hour. He says that it is not that Americans do not want the jobs that the illegal immigrants have, but that it is that Americans do not want the wages that those jobs pay.

Healthcare: Mike believes Arizona should have a single-payer healthercare system under which everyone has healthcare.

Immigration: He says the immigration problem should be dealt with humanely. He says making illegal immigrants into felons is a "knee-jerk" solution by Republicans and that security on the border should be raised by hiring more border control officers.
