Michael Moore Hates America (movie 2004)
From dKosopedia
Michael Moore Hates America is a film currently under production. It attempts to counter Fahrenheit 9/11, Moore's critique of George W. Bush and the war on terror. The creator was un-lucky enough to appear as the subject one of The Daily Show's venerable Samantha Bee's correspondents' pieces in which the witless victim is made a complete fool. Never underestimate the ability of humor to convey the truth.
Michael Moore Hates America is a documentary film directed by Mike Wilson and produced to criticize the prominent film director and author Michael Moore. Wilson made the film as an attempt to parody the "shrillness" of American political discourse as exemplified by Moore. Ever anxious about sexuality and willing to share their anxieties about sexuality, conservatives use the term "shrillness" to attack the masculinity of their ideological targets. The tagline for the film is "A documentary that tells the truth about a great nation", and is more than merely a criticism of Moore but also a defense of a narrow conservative conception of American culture and values, which are assailed by critics such as Moore.
The movie is subtitled The story of a rebel who took on Mike, an allusion to Moore's movie Roger & Me, which shows Moore's amusing attempts to chase down Roger Smith for an interview. In this case, it is Wilson who seeks an interview with Moore. Wilson also adopts other aspects of Moore's style in his efforts at satirizing Moore. For instance, Wilson interviews a mix of "average Americans" across the country and well-known figures like conservative Dinesh D'Souza and libertarians such as Penn Jillette. Wilson revisits some of Michael Moore's shooting locations and subjects from Roger & Me and Bowling for Columbine. In effect it is a "deriviative" and uncreative intellectual product.
