Mack Mattingly

From dKosopedia

Mack Mattingly, a conservative Republican, is a former United States Senator from Georgia. He won an upset victory in 1980 over longtime Senator Herman Talmadge, only to lose the seat six years later in 1986 to Congressman Wyche Fowler. Mattingly attempted a comeback in 2000, running in a special election to succeed the late Senator Paul Coverdell. Even with the endorsement of Coverdell's widow, Mattingly lost the election to former Governor Zell Miller, later a turncoat Democrat.

Mattingly famously co-chaired the Presidential campaign of Dan Quayle and is still occasionally used by Georgia Republicans as a celebrity endorser.
