Lei Ahu Isa

From dKosopedia

Lei Ahu Isa, an elected member of the state Board of Education, resigned her membership from the Hawaii Republican Party immediately after Republican Gov. Linda Lingle allowed the General Excise Tax (GET) increase to become law in July of 2005.

Isa believes the GET tax increase is regrassive and will hurt those on fixed incomes.

Ahu Isa was a member of the Democratic Party elected to represent District 27 which includes the areas of Alewa Heights, Kapalama Heights, Liliha, Nuuanu and Puunui in the Hawaii State House of Representatives. Isa served three terms in the House. However, in 2002 Isa switched parties when seeking a seat on the Hawaii State Senate, which she lost.
