Kirk Fordham is the former chief of staff for Republican U.S. Representative Tom Reynolds. He was fired for his role in covering up the activities of disgraced former Republican Representative Mark Foley. (Fordham had worked as Foley's chief of staff before he joined Reynold's office.) According to ABC News, Fordham offered them a deal if they agreed not to publish the sexually-explicit IMs that Foley wrote to various teenaged pages.
When Fordham resigned, he issued a statement that defended the Republican House leadership. But they tried to use him as a scapegoat for the whole scandal, and he then issued a second statement, claiming that he had informed Hastert's office about Foley more than two years ago.
