Kirk Caldwell

Overview

Kirk Caldwell (born Sept. 4, 1952, Waipahu), a member of the Democratic Party, is the Managing Director of the City and County of Honolulu. He previously represented the 24th Representative District in the Hawaii State House of Representatives of the Hawaii State Legislature from 2002 to 2008 and served as the House Majority Leader. The 24th House district includes the Manoa, Manoa Valley and University of Hawaii areas of the island of Oahu, in the state of Hawaii.

Caldwell was born in Waipahu and raised in Hilo on the island of Hawaii. He is married to former FDIC Chair Donna Tanoue and has a daughter, Maya Hisako Caldwell.

Caldwell attempted to run for a last minute City Council vacancy in 2008, but was removed from the ballot for failing to withdraw from his State House race prior to filing for the City Council race.
