Keith Kreiman (D) of Bloomfield, is currently serving his first term in the Iowa Senate. He represents Senate District 47, which includes Ottumwa, Blakesburg, Chillicothe, Bloomfield, Drakesville, Floris, Centerville, Moravia, Moulton, Corydon, Humeston, and Allerton. Before he was a State Senator, Senator Kreiman served five terms in the Iowa House of Representatives.
Senator Kreiman advocates increasing the minimum wage, moving forward to performance based budgeting, and solving social problems, such as crime, child abuse, and homelessness. Senator Kreiman is Co-Chair of the Judiciary Committee. He also serves on the Human Resources, Education, and Local Government Committees and is a member of the Justice Systems Budget Subcommittee.
Senator Kreiman’s civic involvement includes Good Shepherd Lutheran Church member, Sunday School Teacher, Board member of the Davis County Fine Arts Council, and parent of Rotary foreign exchange student.
Senator Kreiman has also received numerous legislative awards and recognitions. Some of these honors include Justice for the Poor Award from Volunteer Lawyer Project
Senator Kreiman graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School in 1972. In 1974, he received his Associates Degree from Ellsworth Community College. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Seattle University in 1976. Senator Kreiman then earned his Law Degree from the University of Iowa in 1978. He currently practices civil and criminal law.
Senator Kreiman is married to Rose Ann, and they have three children: Erin, Krista, and Shanon.
