Jean S. King

Jean Sadako King, a member of the Democratic Party, was Lt. Governort for the state of Hawaii from 1978 to 1982 under Gov. George R. Ariyoshi. King was the first woman elected lt. governor in the state of Hawaii.

Jean King ran and lost against her former boss, George Ariyoshi, for the governorship of Hawaii in 1982.

Prior to her becoming lt. governor, King served in the Hawaii State Senate pushing much needed environmental legislation.
