Jay Furfaro

Jay Furfaro, was a member of the Republican Party but has switched to the Democratic Party, was first elected to the Kaua'i Council in November 2002 and reelected in 2004.
In 1998, Furfaro was unsuccessful a bid to win the 12th district seat on the Hawaii State House of Representatives. He ran against Hermina Morita.
Furfaro was raised in the Waianae area of Oahu and learned the hotel & restaurant business at Kapiolani Community College. He has retired from hotel management after being in the hotel business for more than 31 years. He managed hotels on Kaua'i for more than 29 years.
Furfaro has been a member of the Kaua`i Citizens General Plan Commission and a member of the Kaua`i Planning Commission.
Furfaro has also been President of the Kauai Historical Society.
Furfaro has been supportive of environmental legislation but is against same-sex marriage.
Furfaro is married to Ema Gomez of Kaua'i and has three children.
