From dKosopedia

Problems in updating and new registrations in Polk County, Iowa. WHOTV has the story here http://whotv.com/Global/story.asp?S=2426424&nav=LotCRxlE . The County registrar is also taking a hard position that the form must have all the i's dotted and the t's crossed. The voter registration deadline is Saturday October 23rd, 2004.

100 students waiting in line at a satellite voting location in the Parks Library on the campus of Iowa State University were denied the right to vote when the polling place closed at 3:00 PM, according to the campus newspaper. http://www.iowastatedaily.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2004/10/22/ This despite a stipulation in the administrative rules governing satellite voting that state that all stations are to accommodate voters who were in line and waiting to vote before the posted closing time. The county auditor for Story County is Mary Mosiman, a Republican, who refused to set-up a satellite voting locations when the ACT Vote for Change concerts came to town and has been appearing at Bush-Cheney events in central Iowa.
