Talk:House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet

From dKosopedia

Discussion formatting hints:

Start a new thread with a section header. Put the subject on a line by itself with two = signs on either side. (Use three or more ='s to make sub-sections.) Sections show up in the Table of Contents, and can be edited separately.

Use indentation to show thread structure. Indent your replies by starting them with ":", one for each indent level. Indent your comment one more level than the one to which you're replying. Put your reply after other replies to the same comment.

Sign your comments. After your comment, type two "-"s and four tildes: (-- ~~~~). This will be converted to a signature with your user name and a timestamp.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to help with this committee...

If you have any interest in what the Telecommunications and the Internet subcommittee is all about then please join up and help. Perhaps the most talked about topic was net neutrality but there is more to this subcommittee then that.

This committee is also concerned with cyber security and protecting the internet from cyber attacks.

I want to help on this committee

I've been following tech legislation for a while. I guess I'll just jump in. --PermanetE 21:28, 26 November 2006 (PST)

One subject that should be of interest for people in this group is media consolidation, especially in view of the nationwide policy of Clear Channel to dump progressive radio after having starved it for two years (poor signal, no staff). This has happened in Madison (though the decision was reversed after protests were organized), Columbus, Dallas, and Boston. Rep. Ed Markey of MA-7 (my congressman) is the chair of this subcommittee. Tomorrow, a group trying to save progressive radio in Boston will be speaking to his legislative aide in Medford. To familiarize yourself with the issue, you can check out diaries with the "progressive radio" tag. There's a shortcut for that search on the dKosopedia Radio page. If you're interested, you can send me e-mail at alanfordean AT-SIGN yahoo DOT com. I had been thinking of getting involved with the Committee on House Administration (which deals with election integrity issues) rather than this one, but the fact that Markey is my Congressman means that I may have more access to him.
