House Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces

From dKosopedia

The tactical air and land forces of the US Military provide the "point of the spear," the working military assets that are currently engaged in multiple conflicts. The management of these resources is a matter of great importance because of their enormous economic and political consequences. The goal of my work on this shadow committee will be to represent the perspective of the most noted Pentagon reformers of recent decades. John Boyd, Franklin Spinney, James Burton and others spent decades creating new approaches to defense policy characterized by innovation, integrity, and efficiency. Although these individuals made very important intellectual contributions to strategic theory and efficient arms procurement, their movement lost momentum and was eventually overcome by the standard methods of the military-industrial complex.

My initial work will be to learn the structure of the standing subcommittee and to research the issues that are likely to come before it in the next legislative session. I welcome discussion and contributions from all. Our military is too important to be left to the mercy of careerists and profiteers. Let's try to manage it for the greater good of our nation.
