Gene Fraise

Gene Fraise (D) is serving his sixth term in the Iowa Senate. He represents Senate District 47 consisting of Henry County and Lee County.

Senator Fraise is Co-Chair of the Agriculture Committee and serves as Co-Chair of the Justice System Budget Subcommittee. He is also a member of the Appropriations, Judiciary, and Transportation Committees.

Senator Fraise, a farmer, is a member of the Lee County Pork Producers, the Farm Bureau, and the Iowa Corn Growers Association. He spent seven years on the Lee County Board of Supervisors and served as its chairman in 1985.

Senator Fraise has received numerous awards and recognitions in the areas of law enforcement, corrections, and other service organizations.

Senator Fraise and his wife, Faye, recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. They have 1 daughter, 3 sons and 14 grandchildren. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, and he and his wife are parishioners at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point, Iowa.
