Frank Wood (D) is currently serving his first term in the Iowa Senate. He represents Senate District 42, which includes Clinton and Scott counties.
Senator Wood is a member of the Education, Human Resources, and State Government Committees. He is also a member of the Education Budget Subcommittee.
Senator Wood was elected mayor of Eldridge in 2001. He was also the associate principal at North Scott High School. Senator Wood has been involved in education for the last 31 years, with 14 years teaching experience and 17 years of administration. In addition to his classroom and administrative work, Senator Wood has worked with students outside the classroom for 25 years, both as a coach for basketball, track, softball, and football teams, and as a sports official.
Senator Wood is involved in a variety of civic organizations, including the North Scott Kiwanis, where he is a past president. He serves on the education advisory committee for St. Ambrose College. He is a member of the Iowa State High School and Girl’s High School Athletic associations. He has also served as a clinical professor at Augustana College. He has also taught adult education recreation courses at Eastern Iowa Community College.
Senator Wood holds a master’s degree in Educational Administration.
Senator Wood and his wife, Peggy, have been married for 31 years. They have a son, Brian, who is a Davenport firefighter, and a daughter, Lindsay, who is a teacher in the Newton Community School District. He and his family are members of the Wildwood Baptist Church.
